how is a "Latched " switch created? example: X1 is NC and it opens. can I create a virtual contact that closes until reset and have the provision to indicate on a HMI screen a message indicating that X1 opened?

    | X1 C0

    |--|/|-----------(SET)

    |

    | C1 C0

    |--| |-----------(RST)

    C0 - Indicates that X1 opened

C1 - The contact on your HMI that resets the X1 opened indicator C0

    is c0 a virtual contact?

What PLC are you using?. If you are using the DL line X1 would be the real world contact(pushbutton) C1 & C0 would be an internal bits( virtual contact & coil) which is operated from a HMI as was indicated by the ADC App Asistant.

If you are using a Click PLC then C0 will become C1 and C2 replaces C1 from the previous example, the same applies as was mentioned before.

You can use C0 or C1 as N/C and X1 as N/C also depending on what PLC. C1 or C2 as the coil. In this case the pushbutton would have to be a twist or pull to release.

    C0 X1 DL

    ---|/|----------|/|-----------(C1)

    C1 X1 Click

    ----|/|----------|/|----------(C2)

with this, you can stop from a HMI or pushbutton.

could someone send me an example program that uses a Latch with the "click " plc's??

What I posted above will work with Click. Another style of latch is like below.

    | X1 C1 C0

    |--|/|------|/|-------(OUT)

    | |

    | C0 |

    |--| |---|

When X1 goes on C0 will turn on and will latch due to the parallel contact around X1. When C1 is pressed, it will turn off C0 breaking the latch.

This will also work with Click.

I should have been more specific, I would like an actual program file(zipped)

to be in a reply so I can load it into my "click " and see how it works.
