I use EZ-S6M-F panels from EZAutomation. I'm considering switching the the C-More EA7-S6M. Has anybody converted an existing panel project from AVG/EZAutomation to C-More? If so, how painful was it? Are there any features that aren't supported? Are there any useful conversion tools? Paul in WI

The conversion tool I used was a new hire who I needed to keep busy for a few days

I don't think there's any quick & easy way around manually converting. Very old versions of an EZ program can be converted using C-More software I believe, but nothing that's been saved in EZ's newer format.

How difficult was the conversion? My machine is pretty simple -- but I 've got 137 screens...

It wasn't too bad- the biggest project we converted was 150 screens on an 8 " panel. That probably took 3 days of converting, and a half day of me verifying everything.

I use a program called Quick Macros to create a macro to automatically increment tags from screen to screen. For instance, my controller can handle 24 zones of control. Each zone has the same variables (for instance, Temperature Z01, Temperature Setpoint Z01). I'll do the first zone manually and record a macro to automatically increment the screen for each screen with similar data.

Where did you get the quick macro program from. I am working on a project where I have 50 similar screens where being able to increment tags would save a bunch of time.

They have a 30 day trial I believe. Definitely worth it. It has easily saved me 60% of HMI programming time in the last 5 years.

Paul, I was surprised to see the same part # at EZ auto and AD.

    Please clarify the following...

I use EZ-S6M-F panels from EZAutomation Did you buy them from EZ auto or buy them from AD and knew they came from EZ auto?

What software was used to program, where from and what version?

The C-more can do auto conversion from AD's eztouch software v 3.1, But I don't believe it will work with the software if it came from EZ Auto.

Do you have the C-more software? Might be worth a shot to try it. I think all you have to do is open the old file with the new software and it converts.

Hopefully with a clearer understanding of what you have, we will have a better idea what the solution will be.

    Good Luck,

    Try it for free!!!!

    http://support.automationdirect.com/demos.html

An excerpt from the demo software limitations.....

"You can convert an existing EZTouch project and verify through the simulator that it looks and functions just like your original EZTouch project. You can save a converted EZTouch project (one-time save). "

    Might be worth a shot,

    Thanks, Bob!

I downloaded the demo, thinking that ADC had beefed it up to accept current-day EZPanel projects. They haven't. The converter will accept the older .ezt files, but not the newer .ezp files. Bummer.

Paul, I was surprised to see the same part # at EZ auto and AD.

Back in the day, ADC sold the EZTouch panels. When ADC and AVG (or whomever) parted company, ADC continued to sell the EZ panels to existing EZ users. I don't remember when they stopped, but they don't offer them anymore. The documentation is still available on-line at ADC, but if you type in one of the EZ part numbers, you get a message like, "Discontinued item. Product no longer available from supplier. Please consider our next generation C-more touch panel "

    Please clarify the following...

I use EZ-S6M-F panels from EZAutomation Did you buy them from EZ auto or buy them from AD and knew they came from EZ auto?

Initially we bought them from ADC. After the divorce, we started buying from EZ-Automation.

What software was used to program, where from and what version?

EZSeries Touch Panel Programming Software Version 5.4, from EZ-Automation.

The C-more can do auto conversion from AD's eztouch software v 3.1, But I don't believe it will work with the software if it came from EZ Auto.

    Right -- it doesn't.

Do you have the C-more software? Might be worth a shot to try it. I think all you have to do is open the old file with the new software and it converts.

Yeah, I downloaded the demo; no joy. ".ezp " is not a filetype that it recognizes or accepts.

    Thanks again,
