I'm using the EA1-S6MLW display on a machine monitoring system and have noticed that the unit can not be programmed unless plugged into the PLC which in this case is a DL-06. I get an error saying that I'm using the wrong software version. I 've not tried loading a virgin screen but only one that I had previously loaded and then made a small change to. This could be a problem down the road if I need to change a screen and don't have a PLC around to plug it into. Firmware 2.20.00.00 Mask ROM V1.37

What is the software version that you are using to program it?

A screen capture of the error would be good too if you are seeing it on the PC. If it is on the panel, a snap shot of the screen would be good.

I don't believe this is the same error code I got last time but I reproduced this 5 times yesterday. Screenshot attached. I'm using version 2.20 Build 00.00.

I am curious how you got around these errors when they occurred. This error only occurs for the 3 reasons listed in the dialog. Did you find any of these to be the case when you saw the errors?

This error only occurs if I try to program the cmore when the communications cable to the PLC is unplugged. If I plug the cable back into the PLC and try again, all is well. I'm using port 2 on the cmore plugged into port 1 on the plc and then programming the cmore through port 1.
As I mentioned I'm creating 7 of these systems for all our plants. One plant actually needs 2 units and when working on the 2nd unit I made a change that I needed to apply to the first one. I pulled the cmore back out of the box, hooked up power and tried to upload the program. I got what I believe was another error but regardless found that if I connected this unit to the PLC, it would allow me to program it.
In addition, I'm using 2 USB to serial adapters simultaneously. 1 for the PLC and 1 for the cmore. It doesn't matter however if I remove one of them from the PC. It still will not program without being connected to the plc.

Wow this sounds like I had this problem awhile back. Did you check your cables. I am trying to remember, it has been a long time. I was using a wrong cable and was missing a ground or something like that. I know this is not too helpful, but I do remember I had this problem and it turned out to be the cable I was using.

This is usually a grounding issue. but the cable could certainly cause it too. Thanks for the feedback.
