networked cmore micros

I'd like to set up a production tracking system with 1 DL06 and a 8 to 10 inch cmore as a central control for entering production goals and monitoring remote machines for cycle counts. Pretty straight forward but I'd also like to add a cmore micro at each remote machine (by remote I mean up to 300 feet away from the central station). There would be about 20 remotes. The supervisor would enter production goals for each machine from the central HMI and that data would be displayed at the remote HMIs. They would also be able to press a button at the remotes to reset the count and/or trigger an output from the central plc to notify stock chasers of material needs. So...my question is, can we multi-drop cmore HMIs on a 422 or 485 network? If so is there any documentation available? Thanks!

When using the C-more Micro, the HMI is always the master. You can multidrop multiple PLC's on 1 HMI but the reverse is not true. However, there are alternatives to your design. You can put DCM modules in the expansion slots and run 2 Micros on each card however only 1 of those ports are RS422 for long runs.

You could multidrop CMORE's on Ethernet.

The least expensive CMORE with Ethernet is about $475 for 6 " Grayscale. That would be much cleaner and easier to develop.

Another alternative would be to put an 05 with each display to give you some local IO if needed, connect a micro up to port 1 and either use an ECOM module or multidrop PORT 2 with an RS422 adapter to network all the PLC's.

Last if you already have an HMI on the machine, you could get the data directly from Machine's PLC through some type of data network.

    Hope that helps
