Hello , We are looking at using AD PLC and C-More touch screen(s) for a small project. First, we want to use the DirectNet to allow Master/Slave operation to save wiring cost. I have experimented with A DL-260 master to a DL-05 slave and that seems simple enough to control slave outputs as well as read into the master the slave inputs. The enduser liked the setup for the different screens we demonstrated but they want to know if the Touch Screen control can be accessed via the Internet. I see that the C-More touch screens do have a Ethernet port but I don't see how one can access the touch screen and control things remote via the Internet. Is this even possible? With only the IDE help file it is a little hard to get a grasp on some of the touch screen programming. Thanks in advance for any suggestions that may clarify this issue.

dieselvette, as far as the HMI software from AutomationDirect, I would suggest the LookoutDirect. It includes the drivers for the PLCs, so you don't need the KEPDirect. We have done some projects using the DDE server with Visual Basic and Excel as the "HMI ", really they were simple data collection/data control HMI. But for a more involved HMI, advanced control, trending, data collection, alarming, etc., look at the LookoutDirect. Hope this helps.

The project can not support the cost of a separate PC and the cost of LookOutDirect software. We can explain to the end user that Internet access for control (this is for a detention facility) for the doors is not an acceptable setup.

    Thanks Tanno.

    marksji:

Read through the post, really explained the issues, bottom line, can only display remotely a given screen. I was not aware that C-more generates a jpg file, when is it updated?

    Thanks for the reply

I'm not completely sure when its updated, but I think its updated each time a new request for the jpg hits the C-More's web server. i.e. I think its updated every time you download it.

That is correct. Each time the webserver gets a request for the .jpg it is updated.

OK, thanks folks. I don't think this what the enduser was wanting. I think he really doesn't need to have extrnal acess, after all this will be the door controls/status for a detention facility.
