My system consists of 3 Allen Bradley SLC 5/05s communicating via ehternet. I also am communicating with a 5/04 via RS232 through one of the 5/05s. I have a 10 " c-more panel on each of the 5/05s. All of my HMI programs are identical. My problem is that when I plug in my HMIs, I get a random I/O communicaion fault in my PLC (the one with the RS232 plugged in). It is a recoverable fault whereby I have to recycle power to clear the fault. Sometimes it takes 10 tries to clear it. I do not get the fault without the HMIs plugged in. I have the latest SW and FW. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a possible grounding problem to me. You may have a potential difference between the SLC5/04 and the C-more panel.
Make sure you are properly grounded everywhere.
Make sure you are using shielded ground on your cable from the SLC5/05 and 5/04, grounded only on one end.
