I had a machine powered up and plugged the micro into the 2nd port. Using a DL240 with DirectNet at the fasted baud for that CPU. The micro lit up but nothing displayed. I unplugged it and plugged it back into port 2 and it worked. This has happened couple times at various times. Is it okay to plug the micro into a powered up CPU? Do I need to power down the machine before plugging in the micro to the port?

You don't need to power down the machine before plugging in the micro.
The OP displays have had similar issues and I don't know the reason for it. Are you using a homemade cable? You know the cable shouldn't be more than 10 feet on serial RS-232.
Why can't I find any information in the manual about baud rate for the C-More Micro? What is the baud rate? Are you sure the Micro and PLC port communication settings are the same?

The micro and the plc are 1 foot away. It hasn't done it lately. It only happened when the machine was powered up, I unplugged the micro to change the program, then plugged it back in back into the plc port, the screen stayed blank (green light, no words). I unplugged the micro then plugged it back into the plc and it came up okay. It did it on that machine and another.
