Actually, the purpose is to solve problems. Another critical purpose is to help educate the masses, but it does not trump the main purpose (unless this was an academic exercise).

I recommend you call Technical Support - there are more/better ways to solve issues than posted text on a web page. Forums are excellent for very asynchronous problem solving of many problems, but not ALL problems.

If you get your problem solved, then it would be GREAT if you posted the solution back here, along with any caveats, gotchas, how you got to the solution, etc. (You'd be suprised how many people do NOT do this, so your goal is admirable!)

Trust me, if someone named "Tech Guy " recommends you call tech support, it's probably a really good idea. http://forum1.automationdirect.com/board/biggrin.gif

Yes, it's one of the ADC tech guys who constantly monitor the forum.

So I must have hit upon an unusual problem. This can be both good and bad. Good that I am one of the few, and bad because it picked me to reveal itself.

That's exactly what I was thinking!

We at Host Engineering (developers of DirectSOFT) can solve a lot of problems using the Forum, but sometimes it's a strange enough problem where a phone call or possibly an email (to send files back and forth) is the only way we 're gonna figure out the problem.

It's been a while, so I thought I'd update everyone on this issue.

I have been rather busy lately and wasn't able to contact tech support until today (besides I hate waiting while on hold, and had to clear aside some time to do so).

The support tech I talked with was Victor, and he was unable to find a reference to such an error ever occurring before. I was asked to email the file to the programming section at Automation Direct, in order for them to get a better handle on what is going wrong (I sent the file today).

When I get a response I'll post it here (might be a new version of software coming).

Victor just called me back from Tech Support, and said he had found the problem. Apparently I had too many protocols set-up under the Com Port selection.

To check and fix this problem, I went to "Setup - Panel Manager " from the C-more applications menu bar.

Here's what came up:

Panel (EA1-S3ML)

Com Port1

DEV001 (highlighted green)

DEV001(1)

DEV001(2)

The first DEDV001 that was highlighted in green was set to Modbus RTU, which is the communications mode that I had originally setup for the C-more Micro Panel. The other two were set as DirectLogic K-Sequence. Now unless I am mistaken, I don't recall doing anything that should have created these other two entities. The good news is that by simply selecting DEV001(1) and DEV001(2), deleting , and then choosing "Save " when closing the Panel Manager, all is well.

Victor says they'll be looking into the slight possibility that something attributed to the use of the STOP and RUN button objects might have inadvertently caused additional Com Port DEV's to occur.

Of course there is always the possibility that being new to using the software, I goofed somewhere, and I am the actual cause of the problem.

still an issue

I know this thread started 3 years ago but I had the same issue with a project for an EA1-T6CL after just looking through the library objects just to see what they were. I added 3 or 4 then immediately deleted them. Thanks to this thread I knew to look in the set-up menu. Sure enough there was a superfluous "device " for each library object I had added.
