Notification & Handshake on Numeric Entry

Is there any examples of using this? When the value from the numeric entry is received by the PLC I need a momentary PLC bit to initiate. Is this the Notification Tag? I am not sure how to use the Handshake Tag. What are internal tags? Thanks for any help.
