EZ Text Multiple Messages

I am working with the DL06 and the EZText 220p. I want to be able to cycle multiple PLC messages and the PLC messages will vary. I would think of different configurations using timers and counters, but I keep having problems like removing 1 message without effecting the cycle. Any suggestions??

I have noticed the same problem on my latest project.

I enter a number to trigger a message and when I remove the number(reset it to zero) the message stays.

I was thinking of creating a blank message and triggering it to clear my display.

    Any other ideas ??

Exactly, Justin. I always make message #1 blank for that purpose. At the beginning of the ladder I write a "1 " to all my display registers.

For djsmith... This sounds VERY similar to something I did a while back. Read this thread at PLCS.net.

I posted the final code that worked on post #13. It's AB, but should be easily converted to AD.

    Eric,

I looked at the thread and it is not VERY similar it is EXACTLY what I am trying to do. I will review and change my program based on that, will be back with follow-up. Thanks a bunch.

I wish AD logic would allow for multi-function outputs.

What specifically do you mean by "multi-function outputs "?

franji1, if you refer to Erics thread at PLC.net, thread #16 and/or

#17, the register move that is illustrated can not be done on one rung with AD logic it would take 2.

    I had a feeling it was... http://forum1.automationdirect.com/board/wink.gif

When you get it working, I'd love to see the AD version of this logic. I'm not well versed with how AD handles indexed addressing... http://forum1.automationdirect.com/board/redface.gif

I can see myself needing the AD version in the future.

Hey Justin, removing the number will not clear the messages or reset it to zero. You want to make sure that you write a zero to your messages.

    Eric,

I had some problems to get indexed addressing to work. I could do it but, from what I read it would index with each scan (don't think that would work). Unfortunetly, I had to use a Shift Register w/ relays(as my pointer)to index the addresses. Not too much more work..

    Have a Happy New Year
