I have searched the forums here, and the posts I read wasn't really that helpful so I thought I would ask. Has anyone had any success connecting to an /05 plc via ethernet or serial. I was hoping to maybe to do it without any additional software. I can code VB pretty well, but I don't know the structure of talking to the PLC.

My application is for woodworking machinery that we build. The PLC controls all aspects of the machine, but I need the PC to control the servo drives. I would like to also use the PC as the HMI for the PLC.

Any insight or direction would be greatly appreciated.

As far as communicating via ethernet, Host Engineering the developers of the ethernet module, have a software developers kit available. Go to http://www.hosteng.com/Main.htm and under S/W Developer kits select EBC / ECOM/ EDRV from the lefthand column.
