Has anyone had anyluck programming the OP-413 or any of the setpoint panels using an USB to Serial Adapter? I recently purchased a new computer and to my dismay, it did not come with a 9 pin Serial port. I purchased a USB to Serial adapter (Belkin F5U109) and it works well with all the AD software ( Directsoft 4, Screen Creator, ABS) but when I try to download to the OP-413, no such luck. Has anyone had any luck with EZPanels and USB adapters? If so, I guess it is time for me to switch. Jerry at Optimation informed me that they will not be coming up with a solution. Thanks in advance,

USB to serial converter performance seems to be pretty much a "hit or miss " proposition. I have seen lots of complaints with lots of combinations on other forums. I strongly suggest you use a PCMIA serial card - my experience with those has been good, and this seems to be the common experience.

I have used a PCMCIA serial adapter from Socket Communications for many years with absolutely no problems. Origainally, I used it as a second COM port, but a while back I let the smoke out of my on-board serial port, so this adapter is now my only connection to the outside world!

Here's a link to Socket Communications serial cards:

Thanks Eric! I also found a supplier near my work. B & B Electronics. These things are expensive!

I 've used the Belkin USB to serial adapter with lots of success in the past. The only catch is you need to assign it to COM1 or COM2. Don't know why but it doesn't seem to work right if its set to anything else. You can find them at any CompUSA, but beware they 're not exactly cheap either.
