Jarett (Customer) asked a question.
I am wanting to put a sensor on a regular 2" ball valve to let my plc know when the valve gets opened. What kind of sensor would you recommend? I am leaning on a simple magnetic reed switch but am open to better ideas
Maybe a mechanical limit switch. But I'd mount it so it is triggered when closed. I write this as if it's a manually operated ball valve, operators can open it part-way, so triggering the switch when valve is closed will tell you if it's opened to any position.
this is actually what i am leaning on. It is infact a manual valve. Thanks for the info

If you have a spare analog input, you could also put in a pressure sensor. This way you would know exactly how much it is opened.

Just a thought.

This could come in handy later on. The fluid were are moving is so thick and sticky that a we simply cannot implement any kind of flow meter for any logical time frame. Its a gravity fed system. But I will put this on the back burner. Thanks for the response
