PLC Beginner’s Guide to PLC Programming

During this COVID-19 pandemic, I thought I would suggest the following beginner's guide to help with programming of programmable logic controllers.

All of the links and information will allow individuals to learn without investing any money for equipment. Software like the Do-More Designer is utilized in this guide as will as a simple online editor in your browser.

Learn at your own pace. Skip the parts that you already know.

Let me know what you think of this guide.

Thank you,

I found the NPN/PNP info quite useful. Thanks!

Nice introductory guide to PLC ladder logic.

My only issue, is that in some of the "challenges", particularly those with timers and counters, the "check" button gives a "fail" even when my program matches that in the video.

    Otherwise, outstanding job!

      Thanks for the comments David.

Can you tell me one of the failed exercises? I will test and see if I need to send an email to the developer.

Hi Garry, I apologize for the delay in responding, I believe I first noticed it in the TOF exercise.

Edit: I checked it again, and it "passed"....

Using timer.TT in the motor start circuit functionally works, at least as far as I can tell, but causes a "fail" in the check...

      Thanks David,

The timer.TT is the issue. The circuit must match what I put in before it will pass.

Glad you got it to pass.

      Regards,

      Garry

      Your test comment worked.
