Cannot communicate via the USB-C connection on a P2-622 CPU

I was at a customer last week programming a P2-622 and could not get my laptop* to communicate over the USB-C connection. Does the connection require a specific cable? The cable I was attempting to use is the 10-foot version of THIS SET. Or could it be the driver didn't update properly? I ended up using a USB-A to Ethernet adapter and an Ethernet cable for the bottom connection to the CPU.

 

If the cable is at fault here, do you have a recommendation on a long cable? I need the cable long, as I never know exactly where a customer has their PLC mounted, and some have them in cabinets at the top of their equipment. Thanks!

 

*Edit: Dell, 64-bit running Windows 11.

    @Todd Dice (Customer)​ Correction: the 622 series CPU connects as a network adapter, not via USB driver (see below). This uses NDIS (Network Driver Interface Specification), Microsoft's standard model linking network protocols to physical or virtual network hardware.

     

    Note: some USB A-C cables are charge-only and won't work for communications. We recommend trying a different cable — we carry 6 ft. cables confirmed to work with all 622 series CPUs.

    Most likely it was the driver. Can you try again on a P2-622 and take a look at device manager to see if it is installed properly? Can you provide a screenshot?

      I cannot now, as I am no longer at the customer's site. I will make certain the driver is up to date.

      Yeah, that's what I figured. Since most cables available are for "fast charging" I'll have to do some better research on a substitute. Thanks for the heads-up on what AD offers, but 6 feet is too short. When customers do "their own" panel work, they seldom think about the programmer.
