The truncated description in V9.00 does not tell the whole story, and may be incorrect in most cases.
I know my email address, I do not know all of the other issues that can cause a failed email send.

This may be the result of incorrectly entering the send-to email address in the Address Book database, or incorrectly entering the Sent-from email address in the Email Client tab of Panel Settings. The log on Information (account or password) on that tab may be incorrect.
The email server may be blocking the Send-from email address or the C-more IP address. Or the email server may require an SSL connection
Help Topic 413.htm from V9.00
RTE-042 Send E-mail Error %Address% 2042 %Address% is e-mail address. The email address in the address book is incorrect.
I know that the email address is correct, and receive RTE-042.
I do think that it is an IT settings issue. I just want clarification on the Help Topic
Thank you for bringing that to our attention. In 9.00 we rebuilt the entire help file and apparently that topic got botched. We'll get it fixed, but in the meantime, RTE-042 is a pretty general error that says the email send process failed. There are several things you should check:
Start on the "Setup/Panel Network" tab in the ribbon
1) Is the Email Client configured properly? If you are using Gmail, you'll need an App Password configured? There is an application note at:

which describes how to set up your Gmail account
2) On the Ethernet port tab of the same window, check to ensure the DNS Server is configured. Typical DNS servers are 1.1.1.1 or 88.8.8. or 8.8.4.4
DNS will look up the server name i.e. smtp.google.com and retrieve the IP address of that server.
3) Check to make sure the CM5 panel is connected to the internet.
