Solo 9696 ramp/Soak
I noticed if you are in the middle of a ramp/soak profile and you lose power to the unit, then power back on it starts the ramp from step 1.
That could be a big issue if power flickers. I didnt see a parameter that would hold it at what ever step it was at. Is there any solution to this? We considered putting a battery back up on it.
We have installed UPS units for these types of issues. For industrial control panels, we have used many of the Phoenix Contact units. They are good, solid units. We also had a project in a clean, office environment where we used an office UPS unit from Staples. But we had to include controls:
1) add an input to the PLC to indicate a power outage so that the PLC could alarm and perform a shut-down sequence, and
2) add PLC logic to decide (or a switch so the operators could decide) if the process should continue, or not. For example, in a temperature ramp/soak, you may not want to continue from the step that it was at because of thermal shock if the power was off long enough for product to cool too much.
A plug for the UPS: during a power outage, the UPS allows for safe, controlled shut-down, and continues to log process values and alarms for analysis.
If this is a stand-alone Solo 9696 (no PLC), ignore the PLC stuff.
