Email setup for BRX after gmail has eliminated less secure app support
I have a BRX that has been sending email through gmail for a couple of years with no problems. Back in July 2025 it just quit. I have the latest firmware 2.11.1 and I just get a "TCP connection failed or was unexpectedly closed in EMAIL @000003C5 (EMAIL at $Main@816)" message everytime It tries to send an email. When you test the settings from the device settings page it says all is good. After I looked on Gmail I see they have discontinued the less secure app support. Is there any way to get the BRX to send an email out on a public email service? If so how?

Gmail’s cutoff of less secure apps in July 2025 is likely your culprit, not your BRX’s firmware. You can still send via Gmail using an app password, but you need to use SMTP with SSL on port 465 and enable 2-step verification first. For deliverability, I’d also check your domain’s SPF and DKIM records—using a free DMARC generator to set up monitoring really helped me track failures without breaking anything. Keep p=none while you test.
