Two axis motion control with SureServo2. Which PLC is a better choice BRX or LS7 or ?
I am replacing a RexRoth IndraDyne based test system that winds cable onto a drum and unwinds back to a spring loaded receiver over a large number of cycles. The current system uses two servos - one to control the drum rotation and the other to move the carriage that moves the drum back and forth as the cable winds/unwinds. I have a SV2H-4B0N for the drum and a SV2L-407N for the carriage slide. I have familiarity with servos but only in a single axis
Which PLC would do the best job of co-ordinating the two axes, BRX or LS7? I am also not sure if I should use a bus-based comms with the SureServo2 drives or a discrete I/O approach.
If you go with the LS Electric XGB PLC, the best option would be to use the Pulse Train output setup. That will give you access to all the XPM motion function blocks available to the CPU.
