Jwwhite (Customer) asked a question.

Installing a P1-540. By default I understand it will be DHCP. I have no way to determine that address. Is there some way to scan for the unit and thus be able to change the IP.

P1-540 default is DHCP OFF and an IP address of 10.10.10.10, subnet 255.255.255.0

Herein lies my problem. I am 3 hours away from this unit. I usually VPN into the plant to take care of things. But no way to get the IP set initially prevents that from happening. If it had been defaulted to DHCP I could make it happen. But now I have to make the drive.

If you can VPN onto the network and use the programming software you should be able to change the IP just fine remotely.

Problem is, until the IP address is changed I can't access it from the network. The default IP address Isn't allowed on the plant network VPN system.

Could you use any desk, teamviewer, or similar to someone on sight laptop and connect to it via USB to change the IP address?
