Direct HMI Connection Via VPN
Is there a way to setup a direct connection to C-More EA9 Displays through the StrideLinx VPN? Other devices allow this either through VNC or HTTP, but I have not found a way to do this with the C-More. A one-step login would be extremely beneficial.
Can you clarify how you are wanting to connect to the panel?
There are several different ways to connect to C-more. The only way to directly connect to the panel through VPN is to the HMI web server. You can use the HTTP server feature of Stridelinx for that.
Any other connection requires establishing the VPN connection first and then connecting (via Remote App, Programming Software (Remote Link option), etc…).
StrideLinx has the ability to connect directly via VNC or HTML to open the HMI directly (This feature was demonstrated to me by Ixon with other brand HMIs). In the image above, the user simply clicks HMI and it opens. One click is handy vs starting the VPN, then navigating to the downloaded HMI exe or talking people through how to download that exe.
I can use this feature to get to the landing page of the C-More webpage using HTTP, which is helpful for not having to remember the IP but really only useful for the first connection to the HMI as after that the exe is downloaded and ready to use.
From what I can tell, there isn't a way to use any of this with C-More. In that case, consider it a request. The request is simply one click or at a minimum, one app to connect to C-More, don't care about the protocol or methods to accomplish it. Whether it's a connection established through the StrideLinx app, or the other way (like Psuite) where the C-More app can automagically start the appropriate VPN connection when a favorite is selected. Most of my customers use the mobile app, and very few use it due to the number of steps required.
Thanks for the feedback! I will forward your request to the C-more Product Management team.
Has there been any progress on this? I am deploying remote HMI's for a customer to monitor different remote locations and they hate the fact that they have to have two apps on their phones.
I would also love to get some feedback here. It surely seems feasible with other panels and I need to get this running with our C-More panels.
