SCADA Software Suggestions - Productivity 3000

I see that Point of View - SCADA became Indusoft Web Studio which has now become AVEVA Edge with a price tag of $3000 for one dev+run license.

The only other SCADA package I have come across that directly supports the Productivity Ethernet Driver is EZScada from EZAutomation, with a better price of around $1,000. However, their website scares me.

So I am open to any suggestions about to suggestions for SCADA packages that are $1000 or less, and bonus points if they include the Productivity Ethernet Driver. Also must be accessible to MS SQL Server.

Thanks.

It is not the most updated, but BizWareDirect sells a program called DataWorx that has integration with instructions in Productivity. It used to be sold by Automation Direct but I guess a contract or license expired because they stopped selling it like 5 years ago or so and you get it direct from BizWare now. That is the only other program that I know of that uses the Productivity Ethernet driver itself and has instruction integration. I am sure 3rd party with alternate drivers are plenty usable though.

You should be able to contact them and find which product is currently best for Productivity integration, and whether or not the DataWorx P3k program works for P2000 CPUs as well.

I looked into DataWorx, but I believe this cannot be used to make HMI interfaces.

Yes I believe you are right, it seems they only really have webpage view with what looks like a standardized layout for displaying tags you tell it to. I guess it is really more of a database software than SCADA.

I won't go into details, but I had a bad experience with EZ.

They made multiple claims that they could not make a reality.

Then, they suggested that I make about 400 NEW rungs to support their 'unrealizable' claims.

The unusable HMI has been in cold storage for about 7 years now!

Thanks for your feedback. I've always been hesitant to purchase from EZ because of how "loud" their website is. Lots of aggressive advertising.

Look into Blue Open Studio - this is also Indusoft Web Studio but purchased by Proface and has had significant development put into it. It's very solid and priced reasonably.

Ignition by Inductive Automation. We have it connected to all of our machines using Koyo, P3K, and Allen Bradley PLC's. It can communicate with most any platform. It can be a very powerfull SCADA system depending on how you want to use it.

You can download it and try it for free. The gateway times out after two hours and will need to be reset. You can reset it an unlimited amount of times. Not exactly optimal, but it's free! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you like it and want to purchase a license later you can.

Garry, I've been exploring Node-RED every since you made this suggestion. I'm to a point where I can read values/coils from my P3-550, and I can log values to my local SQLite database.

How can I set up some sort of trigger to only log when the PLC calls for it? I don't seem to be able to type anything into the inject node to the effect of "if PLC.coil = 1, then log." (I realize this is not coding in node-RED works, but I hope it makes my question clear.)
