P3-01AC - Power Supply longevity
If anyone had to guess or has hard data, what lifespan is everyone getting with their P3000 power supplies? I am only now starting to record service entry dates on each power supply, but if I had to guess, about 5-6 years is all we get. Anyone else?
I have had one in service for 6 years now.
edit: and to clarify conditions from seeing the comments below, the panel is quite warm and there is no AC. I would say the average panel temp is about 50 degrees C.

P3-01AC Operating Design Life 10 years at full load at 40°C ambient and 5 years at 60°C ambient according to the following specification:

Hi Garry, air conditioned factory, inside a cabinet, below 40C. Dunno why in our factory we dont get the longevity like we do with other supplies. Are you using any conditioning on the incoming AC?

As a standard practice, we use surge protection on the AC line.

Since you are not getting the life out of the power supplies, I would give AD tech support a call and see if they can't diagnose one of the failed power supplies. This may give you an insight into the cause.

I replaced C5, C7, C12 and C14.
The PSU powers the Base now.

I transposed the specs/measurements for caps 5 and 7.

(There are at least two hardware revs of the PCB with different silks.
There are at least three construction builds. One has bodged-in resistors and capacitors across other component leads.
I did not recognize this when I was making my notes.)
I had my first one die a few weeks back it was around 4 years old and was installed in a room that was 50c-60c all year long.
I had the same die that I replaced in the previous post two months ago I forgot to ask maintenance to keep it for me to test the caps. I also had different one die on me last night. i don't have a date but i would bet it was around 8 years old.
Do the newer one last any longer? the only part to die on me on the productivity series that i did not cause is the P3-01AC. I admit they are not in the best environment but we have AB Logix 5000 and PLC 5 power supplies in the same cabinet i have never had to replace and they are much older.

Can you post the serial number (under the barcode.) It will not indicate in-service time, but it will indicate build date. At one time (I do not remember if it was in this forum or the legacy forum) there was a breakdown of the serial/date code/
ie. the one I have in hand right now is P3-01AC+18Y19F079F
the number is P3-01AC+18109F139E
