Jimmah (Customer) asked a question.

How do I control outline color/visibility of rectangle and triangle objects??

I am creating an HMI screen where I want a rectangle to be red when the associated tag is one and black when zero. While I have no problem creating the animation, I cannot figure out how to control the outline. If I make the outline red then it looks correct when the fill is red too but when the tag changes to zero, I still have the red outline which I do not want. Help!

      Garry-

Thanks for your reply. I am working with a EA9-T10WCL.

In my application, I am drawing/animating segments of railroad track for a transit rail property. There are switches in the track that can be manipulated to send trains on different routes/paths. I am building a track layout with rectangle and triangle objects. At switch locations, I am trying to make the track plan change/adapt to the position of the switch. If the train is going to go straight, I wish to make the track associated with the other route disappear. The straight route segments are then to be animated so that when they are occupied (tag=1) they are red and when they are unoccupied (tag=0) they are black.

To animate the switches, I need to place several small objects in close proximity that together create the two paths over the switch. If I set the outlines of these objects to the back ground, there will be gaps between the objects which is undesirable since it makes the path (track) look discontinuous. If several small objects are assembled to make an overall section of "track," then everything looks segmented which is again undesireable.

      Thanks!

      Jim

What about using an indicator with no outline?

    • Jimmah (Customer)

Hi Todd and thanks for your reply. I am trying to use triangle and rectangle objects since they are are basic building blocks/shapes that I need to draw the animated "picture" that I need which in my case is a railroad track. I have already reviewed the various objects that are available. Based on the little that I have described for my particular application, do you have any recommendations?

Please note that per my experimentation, I cannot turn off/not use the outline. I can only change its color.

      Thanks!

      Jimmah!

You could use multiple triangles/rectangles (stacked), each with its own outline color and visibility.

But then, this will get unwieldy very quickly.
