SSR and PWM to dim lighting?

I was wondering if anyone has any experience using a SSR to act like a dimmer for lighting circuits? My thoughts were to use the P1k or P2k with the PWM module to drive the SSR and control the loads. I haven't gotten far enough into the project yet to order hardware and try it out for myself. From what research I have done it looks like it should work with a random crossing/ switching SSR.

Thanks!

Unless one synchronizes with the power line frequency, I suspect results might not be quite what one would want, One would probably be better off buying a phase angle control SSR that is made for dimming and sending it an analog signal.

That makes sense. Learning that they are called "phase angle control" helps a lot as well. Thank you!!

Would like to weigh in on this topic if I may. Tinker suggested a phase angle control ssr, would the crydom pmp relay do this job?
