Sureservo at low speeds

I am researching a system and am wondering what is the best way to set up my machine. With the current design I would be running my servo motor at around 150 rpm. Is this a good practice or am I better off going with a gear reducer and higher motor speeds.

    I could..........................I was just wondering what is "best practice " for a servo motor. To try and run it rather at higher speeds or doesn't it matter.

    Generally, servo motors are designed to be able to continuously maintain their rated torque at zero speed. Given that, and the fact that the torque vs speed curve of most servo motors is pretty flat up to rated speed, it shouldn't matter.

    Adding a gear reduction will allow you to use a smaller motor. There may be no cost advantage because the cost of the gearbox could exceed the price difference between two different size motors/amplifiers. However, a smaller motor may make more sense for other reasons.
