When fusing a 4-20ma loop to an analog input module can you use one of the fuse blocks with the led indicator if the fuse is blown?

    toddj,

I'm not sure you intended for this post to be in the drives, stepper, and servo section. If you did I just want to add a caution.

The power supply that is in a AC drive is not capable of powering a 4 to 20 loop. You will need an external power supply to power the loop.

If you intended this to be in the general applications area. Presuming that the fuse holders you have on hand are the "indicator " type. You can "pop " out the indicator unit with a small screwdriver.

sorry, yes ment to put it in general applications,,

I was just wondering if the led indicator would work with the 4-20ma loop of if it would cause a problem with the signal

Presuming you are going to use the .032 amp fuse the manual recommends. There would be no problems until the fuse blows. Then depending on the amp requirements of the LED as to which problem you would incur.

If the amp draw was 3.8 ma to light the led the broken loop detection might not work and the led might not light up.

or if it took only 6ma to light the LED and it did not allow any more current to flow the light would light up but the reading from the current loop might be wrong.

Edit: It would also make the Amp rating of the fuse slightly wrong also.
