I recently had to replace an RTD input module with a four channel 4-20mA input one. I used the same slot (Slot 1) and data destination registers and also removed the RTD setup routine from the ladder and replaced it with the appropriate I-Box. There was no response from the new module so I went to slot 4 and all was well. Later I found that the new I-Box did not overwrite the slot setup data in registers V700-V707. I didn't try it but I would guess if I initialized the scratch pad (not the most convenient option) or went in and zeroed V-registers 700-707 slot one would work as expected after a reboot? Either way, I would have thought the new I-Box would have taken care of that for me.

Did you cycle power after the IBOX was reprogrammed? If not then it won't clear the registers.

Probably not. I know I powered down to change the modules but I think I powered back up in program mode then made the ladder change and switched to run. Aren't these I-Boxes executed on every program to run transition?

They should be. I always power down and back up. It's guaranteed to force the first scan to fire.

FYI - The configuration I-BOX instructions have their title in Bold Italics and they have an embedded first scan permissive. That is why they go on a rung by themselves with no permissives to the left of them.
Put an IB-462 and an IB-423 in your ladder to see the difference.
