I am now using DL260 to log data, but I have trouble to export the data into an .csv or .txt file under the Data View Window. I 've no idea why it's always an empty file when I use the export function? Is there other ways to realize this without using any external software? thanx!

Data Views are not exportable. External software such as Dataworx or use the logging ability of a C-more operator interface is the best way to get data from a PLC.

Alright, seems like I need to get the Dataworx, since I dont have a C-more.

    Thanks

    Benl,

Is the file totally empty? No Vmems, or addresses of any sort?

I do this all the time. So I know it works. To save time I will list what I do then we will go from there.

    1. Presuming you have a data view open and populated with addresses and values. Right click on a "text area " of the data view, select "export " (I do "all "). A save file menu opens (name and location need to be filled out).

    2. At this point I'm able to open the file with a spreadsheet (I'm an Open Office fan).

Thanks Milldrone, I did excactly what you told me, but still got nothing in the spreadsheet. I dont know if my DS 5.3 works good or not. Probably I need to reinstall the software, and do it again, and I also found that the HELP file can not be opened.

It's the 10th tip in the "tip of the day ". I recommend to everybody to look through those if you never have - you might find some other "cool " features. It mentions not just new features, but features that are not obvious, but are quite beneficial.

If you 've turned off Tip-of-the-Day to automatically pop up at start-up, you can manually bring it up under the Help menu: Help->Tip Of The Day

This must be where I found the info to do this. As I was replying to this thread previously, I was looking for the item in the manual or help files. All I could find was this from the help files in DS5.3

    Data View

The data view (Watch View) is used to monitor the status of selected PLC memory locations. You can build up a table of the memory locations to monitor and these can be saved to a file which can be retrieved later. You can have multiple data views, each viewing the same or different memory locations in the same or a different format (Binary, Hex, ASCII, etc.).

That just does not answer very many questions.

I don't know why I still can not export any data into spreadsheet, even I re-install the DS 5.3

Another question is that if there is a limit on the number of elemets for the each DataView Window, like the max range is 99?

    Thanks

Does the .CSV file not exist, or are you saying it exists, but it is empty, or does your spreadsheet program not support .csv files? Make sure you are doing Export-> All on the right-click menu.

If it exists, delete the file, then try again. Then try to open it in Notepad, not your spreadsheet.

franji1, I tried them both, and the .csv or .txt file does exist, but nothing in the file. Do you think it might involve with Office 2007?
