H2-CTRIO not writng to V memory

I am using an encoder to get location with H2-CTRIO. The CTRIO workbench indicates the counter is counting and the location is changing, however it stops writing to the v-memory location for no apparent reason and causes my table to travel to the end of my ball screw. What would cause the counter to stop writing or the proccessor to stop reading? Using a 250-1.

    Yank,

Is this related to the question you posted a few days ago???

Yes it is. I was able to catch a better indication of what is happening today and it appears the CTRIO just quits writing to the V-memory on the output. At AD tech support suggestion I have cleared the module config and reloaded. If this doesn't fix it they believe I have a bad counter module. Only time will tell.

    yank38,

That is bizzare because if CTRIO Workbench Monitor I/O can see the count, then that means the data is getting across the backplane to the CPU. Monitor I/O function gets the data from the CTRIO in exactly the same way that the PLC gets the data. So, when the CTRIO stops counting I would be curious to know also, are there any indications at all that something is amiss? Like lights on CTRIO or CPU? Ladder Logic scanning? Can you see the CTRIO in Config I/O of DirectSOFT? Can you edit the PLC Ladders and put an END at the top and see if the V-memory starts updating again? etc. etc.

I have a knack for only having bizarre problems. I havn't tried the end statement yet because the machine has been running. I was able to change the value in the V memory thru data view but it would not update. When the stepper went to the end of travel I did a manual reverse of the screw. This is a capability programmed in. I immediately noticed my position not updating on the EZtext. I looked in the cabinet and all lights indicated everything was fine. I then pulled up directsoft and it connected without incident. The location address was not updating. I opened the CTRIO workbench and monitored I/O without shutting down updates. It was updating perfectly. But the v memory was not. I powered off the unit and powered it back up and it went back to running fine. As already stated AD support suggested clearing the counter config and reloading. I have done that and have nbeen running for 24 hrs without incident. Only time will tell.

I suppose it could 've just been a fluke... or has it happened more than once? http://forum1.automationdirect.com/board/frown.gif At any rate, the next time it fails, could you use DirectSOFT and check the Config I/O to see if the CPU can "see " the CTRIO?

It has happened more than once. Maybe a half dozen times over a six week period. I will check the config I/O if it happens again. Thanks

I have 2 counter modules in this base and the second module just acted up. It is taking an encoder signal and giving me a speed as well as total feet. Neither the raw data nor the scaled data for total feet is updating in v memory. In workbench the speed and footage are updating without issue. I is just not writing to V memory. I need more reliability than this. I just don't know what to fix.

Also, this time I was unable to write a new value to the memory location thru data view.

    And Config I/O from DirectSOFT?
