I am looking for 24v AC inputs, and was wondering about using 24v dc inputs such as D2-16ND3-2 the DL205 16pt sink/source input.

    Hi Jon,

As hard as it may be to believe, there is no 205 Input module that will accept 24VAC. In the past, I have overcome this limitation by using a small 24VAC relay to drive a DC input, but this solution is clearly unacceptable for large I/O counts and high duty cycles. If you don't need the features of the 205 series, the 105 brick ( like the F1-130DD ) can accept 21.6 - 26.4 VAC on it's X4-X11 DC inputs. There is also a 405 module that takes a 24V DC/AC input ( D4-16NE3 ), so that is another possible solution if you have the room or the budget for one.
