Hi, I'm still learning the PID functionality and ramp/soak setup but was hoping someone could clear some things up for me. FYI I am using the solo to control a simple infrared heater. First off is there specific numbers I can set the PID values to so that it acts more like an on/off function. I may use the ramp/soak just as a way to time my operation and I'd like it just to turn the heater on and off to maintain temp instead of the constant adjusting that the PID is doing(I used the auto tune to setup the PID). Also when a ramp/soak operation ends, what SV value is it going to use, the last value in the pattern? or will it just turn off the output? Thanks in advance...

You need to have your set value which is the Max temp and set the offset to +/- 5 of the max temp.

I believe the temperature will be held a whatever the SV was set for in the last step. So if the the last step is a soak at 200 for 1 hour, it'll still remain at 200 even at PStop.
It does not automatically turn off the output. If you set an SV of 0 degrees at 0 minutes and made it the last step, it will effectively stop heating.

Ramp-Slope
I notice in my SL4848 in ramp slope mode when the SV changes value by going to the next step, the SV in the SLsoft display and the actual SV of the hardware controller do not Ramp up at calculated X degrees per minute to reach the next SV but immediately changes to the actual SV set in the table. Bottom line is when the SL4848 changes steps; I am not seeing a ramp change in SV but rather I get an immediate Unit step change in SV.
Can anyone clear this up for me
