This is for a GS2-21P0 drive... First, the pertinent parameters: P3.00 - 01 (operation from external terminals, keypad stop enabled) P3.01 - 00 (DI1 - FWD/STOP; DI2 - REV/STOP) P4.00 - 02 (frequency determined by 0-10v analog input - and switch SW1 is set to AVI) I close the terminals DI1 - DCM. There may be an analog voltage present on AI-ACM when DI1-DCM are closed (the drive is powered 24/7). The drive refuses to operate...sometimes. Sometimes it will start and run fine. If I change P3.00 to 00 and P4.00 to 00, it will always start and run fine from the keypad. Otherwise it is hit-and-miss. There is only one thing I can think of - is it necessary for the analog input to be at zero BEFORE DI1-DCM are closed? If not, is there something else I might be missing?

No, the AI terminal can have any voltage on it when the drive is ordered to run.
What is the rest of your terminal setup look like?
Have you set your unused inputs to 99?
I learned that one from experience. Disabling unused inputs can stop some of these kinds of issues.
