I added a braking resistor to my GS3 and I really can't tell much of a difference. My Teco stops on a dime without a braking resistor. My GS3 is a 2hp unit, I have the required resistor hooked up to B+ and B- and I have a jumper from + to B+. I'm running in Vector mode. I have the parameter set to Ramp to Stop, I have decel set to 0.1 and I 've tried Automatic Decel and Ramp Decel. Reverse is instant, that is good, but a M5 stop takes a few seconds to stop the spindle, even at a low rpm. The only thing that the resistor did solve is my Current Overload Errors I would get when I issued a stop command. Am I wired correctly? Any parameters I'm missing?

RWS - M5 is just a CNC command to stop the VFD by Switching the Relays and dropping the voltage divider for the Remote RPM to Zero volts.

All the below is defaults and are not used. I do use P3.01= 01.

Is it possible to turn off D1? when you want to stop?

Before I suggest a value for P6.18 we need to know what the DC buss volts are when the drive is running. So you will need to monitor the DC buss volts. We need to set P6.18 at approximately 10 to 15 volts above the normal volts.

Is it possible to turn off D1? when you want to stop?
RWS- Yes, I aready do with a relay. Once relay For Run/Stop on DI-1 and one relay for Forward and reverse on D2.
Let's try these settings
P6.04 = 02
P6.05 = 01
P6.06 = 00
I'm presuming you are using 240 volt input, P6.17 = 390
RWS- 220 VAC Single Phase In (Ac Mains)
Before I suggest a value for P6.18 we need to know what the DC buss volts are when the drive is running. So you will need to monitor the DC buss volts. We need to set P6.18 at approximately 10 to 15 volts above the normal volts.
RWS- I will check this this evening when I get in.
P1.06 = .1
RWS- I will try that. I'm curious tho.. That is Decel Time 2 which I'm not using. Also, I see a note in the manual. Accel and Decel Must be> 1 second to be effective. That is strange. I will try 1 second as well.
I'm trying to use this for power tapping however the delay for stopping has to be minimum so it's fairly predictable.
What I notice, when I disconnect DI-1 to stop, it decels very quickly but when it gets almost to a stop, instead of stopping it seems to coast a few turns at a very slow rpm.

These settings you provided seemed to help tremendously. I guess the stall prevention was overiding the braking?
